Alan Darby

I was born in Perth 1938. At school, art was always the subject at which I excelled but a career in the public service left me little time to devote to painting. However,
an early retirement allowed me to seek a productive and satisfying hobby into which to channel my energies… art was the obvious choice.Apart from attending various
short courses at evening classes and some workshops in recent years, I am self-taught.

In 1989 I joined the WA Society of Arts and the Bayswater Arts Society of which I remain a member.

I also joined the Pastel Society for a while. Water colour is my favourite medium but also enjoy working with pastels, pencil and other media.

I have exhibited extensively in galleries, schools, councils and local art exhibitions
as follows:
