I have always liked to draw but apart from some efforts as a teenager I did not take up art properly until I settled in Perth in 2000 after 25 years at the London Bar.
My early efforts with watercolour left me somewhat frustrated, but then I discovered the joy of pastels and then encouraged by that I took up oils again. These are now my preferred mediums and I try to do something every day. My favourite subjects are portraiture and figures in the landscape especially in an urban setting. I have had the pleasure of executing a number of commissions in these subjects.
I am very happy to quote for commissioned work.
I have contributed work to many joint exhibitions, in particular the Society’s annual exhibitions. Last August I had a solo exhibition at ‘Ellis House’, opened by Brian Simmonds, which was very successful in terms of both sales and the very encouraging comments received.
I have been Secretary of the Society for a number of years; I am also a ‘Friend of Ellis House’ and a regular supporter of ‘Perth Plein Air Painters’. My work is also to be seen at the Monet Gallery in South Guildford.
