At every monthly meeting of The Western Australian Society of Arts we invite a guest speaker to share their knowledge and skills with our members. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month (except December & January) at 7.00pm at “The Palms” Rokeby Road, Subiaco.

Leon Holmes is an award-winning Australian artist, lecturer and ambassador of Plein Air painting (on location) in the medium of oil.
Born and raised in Perth, Leon’s career started with a wide range of artistic fields including Printmaking, Graphic Design, Art Direction, Illustration and Photography.
Since 2003, Leon is a professional artist painting outdoors in the style of impressionistic realism, just like the old masters did and he is honoured to have one of his paintings hanging amongst Dutch masterpieces in the Katwjik Museum in Holland. Leon works quickly when capturing natural light and colour and used his outdoor sketches as reference when creating larger works in his home studio in Mandurah.

Leanne is a highly renowned portraiture artist residing in Perth, Western Australia. As well as her unique and beautifully painted portraits, she also offers her painting skills in hugely popular weekly art classes and regular weekend workshops.
She has a passion for design, colour and most importantly light, which have become the key elements to her exceptional artwork. She loves rhythm and movement, and through her energetic brush strokes she skilfully conveys this. Leanne’s love of children and family is expressed in her current paintings by capturing the warmth, tenderness and vulnerability of these relationships.
Leanne has been commissioned continually to paint portraits for Perth families. Her commissioned oil portraits and paintings hang in a large number of prominent homes both in Western Australia and the Eastern States.

Born in Belgium and based in Perth, Stephanie Reisch is a professional artist, curator and arts educator. Her artistic practice spans across drawing, painting, sound and digital media. She has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions nationally and enjoys teaching art to students of all ages. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia.

It is twenty years since Brendon Darby first exhibited his works. Since then he has set a cracking pace exhibiting all over Australia, in Austria, Italy, Hong Kong and London. He has combined his profession as a musician with his profession as an artist and based both on his love of the Australian Bush – and a sense of humour.
