Roger Bayzand is the 4th generation from a family of artists. Most of his working life was spent running his own charter boat in the English Channel but he has sailed in many different oceans world wide, consequently marine subjects are close to his heart and feature heavily in his art work. He took up portraiture after emigrating to Australia and studied the subject with Barry McCann (Archibald entrant) and Jana Vodesil Baruffi the 2017 black Swan Prize winner.
He paints with Perth Plein Air Painters most weeks and travels to paint outs all over Australia. He considers that painting on site to be one of the truest forms of art and one of the quickest ways of learning, to be able to paint directly from life you must be quick and accurate, as light is ever changing .
He is a Platinum member of the West Australian Society of Arts and Vice-President of the Wanneroo Joondalup Art Society.
You will find him on Facebook and Instagram as Roger Bayzand
