Born in Melbourne, growing up in the western suburb of Newport, Suzana found an early love for painting and pursued art throughout school.
Relocating to Perth, working and raising her young family, life was busy. Then there was a defining moment that reminded her of who she was and that she had to get back into painting.
Suzana reconnected with her love for art through the Fremantle Art Centre, there she explored various visual techniques and found oil to be her medium of choice. She continued studying oil painting under the experienced guidance of Jana Vodesil-Baruffi for some years and then did classes with Peter Barker at Perth Art Acadamy, who taught old master’s techniques.
Suzana has taken what she has learnt so far, working on developing her own practice with more study and exploration, always following her heart. At the moment she is a member of the ‘Friday Portraiture Group’. She loves and practices portraiture, still life and surrealist compositions.
Over the years she has participated in several council exhibitions and has been a finalist in the Melville Art Exhibition 2024
She realises that her practice in the craft of oil painting is a lifelong endeavour, searching for sublime beauty within her work.
