Michele Scott, born Sydney 1954 and moved to Perth 1981. Michele was very influenced from a young age by her mother and aunt in creative arts. To be creative is her daily joy in life and interwoven with raising a family, working in the medical field and her other creative interests, Michele studied Fine Arts units part time at East Sydney TAFE late 70’s, Perth TAFE 80’s and 90’s and undertook classes and workshops at Claremont School of Art and with her favourite artists in WA, namely Leanne Pearson, Carmen McFaull, Lucy Papalia and Rayma Reany as well as workshops interstate and overseas fitting them in around her day job. For a three year period early 2000’s she left her day job, became a florist and owned Lizzie Anthers Floral Studio at Woodlands, a tough gig, I thought I was buying myself a part time job she laughs. Retired from the medical workforce for some years now she paints in all mediums from her home studio in Woodlands. While she painted in watercolour, acrylic and pastel for many years she predominantly paints in oils these days. Michele prefers to paint en plein air and from life setting up Still Life, Florals and domestic scenes to get the best light and to bring joy to the viewer the simplicity, joy and charm of domesticity, our homes, our castle and calm away from the world and its chaos. Equally, she loves painting landscape and seascapes and responds to the vast range of beauty travelling around the country, these days in a caravan with her husband, setting up an easel beside a river, the ocean or a gorgeous rural scene. They have always loved their road trips back and forth across the country, she armed with paints, easel, some red wine and fruit cake, a fire at night in the middle of nowhere. Travel always ignites passion of something new to paint.
Michele exhibits regularly both in WA and interstate and recently won first prize in Oil at Beverley WA Annual Art Awards and was a finalist in City of Bayswater WA and Aspire Gallery Brisbane “Petite Pieces 2024” and finalist at Grammar Art Toowoomba 2022, 2023 and 2024. Michele is a member of the West Australian Society of Arts, Pastel Society of WA, Plein Air Painters of Perth. Her commissions hang throughout Australia and overseas.
