West Australian Society of Arts

Presenter/Demonstrator - Jem Ham

"I jumped into a pool of thought and out of the ripples came a dream".

His current practice draws on surrealist automatism and biomorphic abstraction to create works where the real and imaginary fuse together in a world of their own. Working primarily with pencils, acrylics, and oils on canvas and paper, Jem’s process often begins with automatic drawing that evolves into detailed, rendered compositions. His work reflects an ongoing interest in identity, self-transformation, and the workings of the mind.

Gary Casey - GC Sculpturez Perth WA | Sculptor E: gcsculpturez@gmail.com P: 0404 047 762

A sculptor who forges in metal, inspired by "Nature's Resilience."

The visionary behind GC Sculpturez in Perth, Western Australia, a distinguished three-dimensional, mixed-media sculptor whose work resonates with an innovative spirit and profound emotional depth. For Gary, sculpting is more than a craft; it's a "soul-energising" journey into imagination, offering significant therapeutic benefits as he becomes one with his art. His evocative sculptures often explore the intricate connections between humanity and the natural world. They highlight the delicate beauty of endangered species and reflecting a deep love for the ocean that surrounds his coastal home in Perth.

Exhibitions & Achievements

A testament to his skill, Gary's achievements include the 2023 York Society Art & Craft Award for ‘Spider Orchids’ and the 2007 City of Wanneroo Sculpture Winner for ‘Whale-n’. His significant commissions, such as ‘The Fern’ (Yallingup WA, 2022) and ‘Percy’ the Pelican (Exmouth, 2018), resonate across Western Australia.

Artist of the Month - September 2026 - Toni Lynn- Avis

Thursday 15th October 2026:

Jane Hebiton

Thirty-plus years, and Jane has posed on three continents — Albany to Tel Aviv to London and back again, plus every kitchen-table Zoom session in between. She's sat for individual artists, community groups, universities and high schools, and racked up more hours holding still than most people spend sitting down all year. She calls herself an art martyr — suffering nobly for other people's art — but underneath the joke is something she genuinely believes: every artist should try posing at least once, then see what got made of them, to really feel the strange, shifting power dynamic in that room. At heart Jane is a dancer, and to her, life modelling has always been just that — a very slow dance, the artists as her audience, her body the narrative, and the only music she needs is playing quietly in her own head. Come here what three decades of that dance looks like from the other side of the easel.
