Demonstrator:  Jana Vodesil - Baruffi - Oil Painting

Jana will be demonstrating her skills with a palette knife.
Art allows Jana to express her views on life wordlessly.
Jana has shared her work in over 20 solo exhibitions, winning many competitions and awards.
Her book of portraits, “Permanent Impressions”, won a Bronze medal in New York at the Independent Publisher Book Award.

She is a Lester Prize winner and
seven-time finalist, a Darling Portrait Prize finalist, a winner of the Melville Art Award and Canning Art Award, and a
finalist in the Shirley Hannan Award and American Art Awards.

Theme:  9 X 5 Artworks.
  
Follow the steps of Condor, Roberts and Streeton by painting a 9 x 5-inch Impression Exhibition held in Melbourne on 17th August 1889.  Many of the artworks were painted on cigar box lids.

Lynette Bell, our WASA committee/catering person, will provide Champayne with a celebratory supper.

Theme:  Paint Your Pet, like Freda Kahlo
(1907-1954) was a famous Mexican painter known for her self-portraits.  Her work is known for its bold colours, personal nature, and exploration of identity, gender and race.

You are invited to attend, adorned with flowers in your hair, as a tribute to Freda.



Wattle Day 2025
SAVE THE DATE - Saturday 30th August 2025
The City of South Perth Historical Society has kindly invited the Western Australian Society of Arts to host an En Plein Air competition for their Wattle Day Event. Wattle Day will be held on Saturday, August 30th around Heritage House (Gallery & Cultural Centre) in South Perth. South Perth holds a special place in WASA’s history. This was where many of the founders of the Wilgie Sketching Club (later to become the West Australian Society of Arts) lived and painted.
