129th WASA Annual Awards Exhibition
Thurs 20th Fri 21st Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd March
Opening night will be on Friday, March 21st. 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
WASA members & guests will be provided with a light supper and refreshments.
We thank our hardworking committee member, Lynette Bell, for all her efforts in catering for this event.
WASA Exhibition Raffle
Major Prize donated by Leanne Pearson. We will sell tickets over the three days and will be drawn on Sunday, 23rd March 2025 at 12.00 noon.
Lynette Bell donated the daily raffle for Friday, 21st March, which will be drawn at the Annual Awards opening night event.
Julie Cubbage donated the daily raffle for Saturday, 22nd March, which will be drawn at 4.00 pm on the same day.
Adrianne Kinnear donated the daily raffle for Sunday, 23r March, which will be drawn at 12 noon on the same day.
As part of this initiative, WASA will present “Portraits in Giving” at our March Exhibition. This event will feature live portrait painting demonstrations by WASA members, who will create portraits of notable volunteers from the City of South Perth.
Each volunteer will have the honour of selecting a portrait to take home.
The "Portraits in Giving" Demonstration at the WASA Annual Exhibition will be held on, Saturday March 22nd, commencing at 11:00 am.
Artists arrive at 10:30 am, commencing at 11.00 am, with a 30-minute staggered start.
Each artist will allotted three hours to complete their portrait.
All finished artwork will be displayed on the front stage with a People's Choice award of $500.

STILL-LIFE DEMONSTRATION
Lorene Vigus would like all expressions of interest from WASA artists to do a Still Life demonstration at the Annual Awards Exhibition on Sunday, 23rd March, from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.
Lorene will organize three still-life displays and would like to gather 9 artists, IE. (three groups of three)
Artists will be required to bring all their art supplies for the demonstration.

Still Life - Drawing and Painting Evening with a sip of vino
Michele Scott, our still-life artist, will arrange a still-life display for participants to paint, draw, or sketch.

Still-life refers to any subject that is stationary or inanimate. It encompasses a variety of man-made or natural objects, such as cut flowers, fruit, vegetables, fish, game, anything dead, and wine.

Theme: 9 X 5 Impression Exhibition
Follow the steps of Condor, Roberts and Streeton by painting a 9 x 5-inch Impression Exhibition held in Melbourne on 17th August 1889. Many of the artworks were painted on cigar box lids.
Thursday 17th July: WASA Annual General Meeting
Lynette Bell, our WASA committee/catering person, will provide Champayne with a celebratory supper.

Theme: Paint Your Pet, like Freda Kahlo
(1907-1954) was a famous Mexican painter known for her self-portraits. Her work is known for its bold colours, personal nature, and exploration of identity, gender and race.
You are invited to attend, adorned with flowers in your hair, as a tribute to Freda.
